WINDSOR

A perfect winters weekend saw us head just out of London to Windsor. There are 2 main attractions - Windsor Castle and Eton. Windsor Castle is one of the Queen's residences but sadly she wasn't home to greet us.

A true tourist

St George's Chapel is within the complex and has been a place of worship for many of the royal family. It was closed on the day we were there, but the sun dial on the outside was very accurate.

The 'Long Walk' of 5km runs in a straight line from the castle to a copper stuatue of the Queen on a horse. We chose to go half way and let the tourist masses continue on.

Couldn't resist opportunity to test out the grass

While we were in Windsor we realised that the flight path for Heathrow is directly overhead. A plane goes past about every 30sec. They are low enough that you can see the wheels out ready for landing, as it only about 15kms from Heathrow. Luckily, when the Queen is home the planes are diverted so as not to disturb her.
